Leave me alone

I like writing and sharing my ideas with others. I often write some short passages on some interesting websites. I want to improve my writing skills. But my mother always langhs at me :What are you doing now? Focus on some important matters and don''t waste your energy on these useless things.Be mature,OK? I have no idea. Writing makes me happy and it means a lot to me. Can the word useless be used to describe it? I like music. I'm learning to play the ukelele. Every day I practice it a lot. It's fun and amazing. But one og my neighbour says: Do you want to be a musician? Why do you play it? Why can't I do something I'm interested in? Why can't I do what I like?Why do you interrupt others' life? Do I need to explain the joy music brings to me? It's a peaceful world if each one is busy with their own life and stop commenting others' life. We just need a free space in which we have the right to define life we want to live and whom we want to be. |

Indeed, enough private space is important for mental well-being. It would be good to sit down and talk about your feelings to your parents, in a candid way --- Please Do not judge. Do not criticize. Do not easily show your bias to me. I'm already an independent grown-up. This works on my father as time goes by (though I have to admit that I'm lucky enough to have an open-minded mother...). Communication is so important, for parents to understand us, and for us to understand them. At first, my father was not very comfortable when I did not follow his instructions any more, but later on, he came to be neutral with my opinions, and now even happy to know young people's thinking. I would say that parental relationship is comparatively easier to be coped with compared with other types of social relationships such as the ones with your colleagues or leaders, because the bottom line is that our parents LOVE us. Trying to think in their positions is always helpful to remain patient. If you really feel annoyed, you could control yourself, at least by keeping a distance from them. (I call this Distance Strategy...Whenever I meet someone I do not enjoy, I would keep a distance away instead of mixing up and letting out my negative tempers). Finally, as you've mentioned, there's always a gap between theory and reality. Indeed. Good luck! |

It is not your fault, since the life is getting more and more tough. With sufficient material, you may not happy, but without material, it is difficult to always happy. Your parents do not want you spend too much time on something they do not agree, because they experienced and they knew what is useful. As parents, they were not wrong. After having a breath, you have to keep going on your business, relationship, whatever. Not only for yourself. |
