????????缶?о???????????????·??????????? We are looking for an experienced post-doctoral researcher to work on the analysis, design, implementation and validation of in-home networking techniques based on optical wireless communication in the Electro-Optical Communication Systems (ECO) group, Department of Electrical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. This project will be carried out based on a series of advanced opto-electronic integrated circuits. This position will last for one and half years. After a successful evaluation, this position will last for another one and half years (in total three years). About Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is a research-driven and design-oriented technical university. It is ranked among the world??s ten best-performing universities in terms of research cooperation with industry - it was again ranked No.1 in 2013 (source: CWTS). TU/e publishes about 3,500 scientific papers per year, of which about 20% is co-authored by industrial partners. Its nine departments organize their research around three strategic themes ?Cenergy, health and smart mobility?C and are home to about 3200 permanent staff and 7200 students. The Department of Electrical Engineering includes nine research groups and has approximately 300 staff employees and 600 students. Its research is organized around three main themes: Connected World, Care and Cure, and Smart and Sustainable Systems. The ECO group is focusing its research and education on optical communication systems, encompassing techniques for long haul networks, for fast network nodes, for user access networks including radio-over-fibre and optical wireless techniques, and end-to-end management of heterogeneous networks. More information about TU/e can be found at www.tue.nl/en/ , and about the ECO group at www.tue.nl/ECO . Research scope The exploding need for in-door wireless communication capacity is getting beyond the capabilities of traditional radio techniques. The available radio bandwidth gets exhausted, wireless devices start interfering with each other in this overcrowded radio spectrum, and high-capacity radio is consuming increasing amounts of power. Optics can offer a breakthrough, by means of the huge bandwidth of its spectrum, together with intelligent networking. As a continue of a five-year frontier research project funded in the Advanced Grant of the European Research Council, we aim to keep on our research based on the breakthrough by a revolutionary combination of novel techniques: a multitude of dynamically-steered free-space optical beams, an intelligently routed optical fibre network backbone, flexible radio communication techniques, and intelligent heterogeneous network management. This hybrid network concept will increase the available wireless bandwidth by several orders of magnitude, while improving energy-efficiency. The optical beam communication techniques will be combined with intelligent optical signal routing techniques in the fibre backbone network to optimize the end-to-end network performance, and with advanced low-power highly-integrated radio techniques for upstream communication which will also provide for user localisation and tracking capabilities, in order to deliver ultra-broadband services to every user, tailored for their device. Advanced network management and control functions are needed in order to make the heterogeneous physical layer entities working together in a well-coordinated way and to make them adapting dynamically to the needs of the users and of the environment. A series of well-designed integrated optical transceivers will be incorporated into the optical system. The Post-doctoral researcher tasks A series of PhD students are working on the challenges mentioned above, addressing free-space optical communication, dynamic routing in a fibre backbone, radio techniques for high-capacity data transfer and device localisation and tracking, and advanced overall network management and control, respectively. The post-doctoral researcher has to provide the maintenance and further development of the existing optical wireless communication systems while carefully aligning the capabilities of each of the constituting techniques. He/she should provide guidance and support to the PhD students and the technicians involved. He/she should take the leading role in the system integration work in order to design, implement and validate an integrated laboratory demonstrator. Requirement Candidates must have a PhD degree in the field of Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics. They must have a solid background in optical communication techniques, radio communication techniques, and have affinity with network management and control techniques. This background should amongst others be tangible from their list of publications. They should have hands-on laboratory experience in these fields. Candidates also must have excellent communication skills and be fluent in English, which is the working language in the ECO group. A solid background of optics system design is especially favored. Conditions We offer a challenging job in a dynamic and ambitious university through a fixed-term appointment as Post-doctoral researcher up to the end of the project (31 August 2017). As an employee of the university, you will receive a competitive salary as well as excellent employment conditions. A salary is offered between ? 2919.- and ? 3831,- gross per month (gross), depending on knowledge and experience (based on salary scale 10 CAO Dutch Universities). Moreover, an 8% bonus share (holiday supplement) is provided annually. Assistance for finding accommodation can be given. The university offers an attractive package of fringe benefits such as excellent technical infrastructure, child care, savings schemes, and excellent sports facilities. TU/e also offers you the opportunity for personal development by developing your social and communication skills. More information on employment conditions can be found at w3.tue.nl/en/services/dpo/ Contact Please feel free to contact Mr. Haotian Zheng at the email address: h.zheng@tue.nl You can also arrive Mr. Zheng by QQ: 583033723 |
