TOF －turnover frequency. The turnover frequency (the term was borrowed from enzyme catalyst) quantifies the specific activity of a catalyst center for a special reaction under defined reaction conditions by the number of molecular reactions or catalyst cycles occurring at the center per unit time. In practice, the experimentally determined volumetric rate of reaction [moles/volume/time] is divided by the number of centers [moles/volume] yielding the TOF.
