Position Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy of Ohio University (Athens, Ohio, USA) and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (Chengdu, Sichuan, China) seek candidates for a joint postdoctoral research position focused on theoretical and computational studies of nanostructures and nanocrystals. The main working place for this theoretical-physics position will be at Ohio University in the group of Prof. Alexander Govorov. Simultaneously, this position assumes strong cooperation with the experimental nanotechnology Institute in Chengdu, the group of Prof. Zhiming Wang (http://www.iffs.uestc.edu.cn/iff ... =122&cid=14). The theoretical research group led by Alexander Govorov at Ohio U. is working on optical and photochemical properties of nanostructures and nanomaterials with emphasis on plasmonic nanostructures, hot electrons, hybrid nanoscale systems, quantum effects in plasmonic and excitonic systems, bio-assemblies, nanosystems for energy conversion, etc. There will be opportunities to interact with experimentalists. Candidates should be highly motivated and have a strong background in theoretical condensed-matter physics, computational physics and in the physics of nanostructures. A commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds is required. The position is initially for one year, but may be extended for a second and third year, depending on performance of the candidate and funding availability.
