Polydopamine, as the major pigment of eumelanin, typically shows an absorption property similar to that of the naturally occurring eumelanin: the absorption increases exponentially toward the ultraviolet spectrum. Because there is no distinct chromophoric band, scientists are prone to believe that polydopamine is a disordered organic semiconductor, similar to melanin. |
