Vol. 6  Multinuclear Solid-State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance of Inorganic Materials

By Kenneth J.D. MacKenzie, M.E. Smith

Publisher:   Pergamon
Number Of Pages:   740
Publication Date:   2002-04-01
Sales Rank:   2285834
ISBN / ASIN:   0080437877
EAN:   9780080437873
Binding:   Hardcover
Manufacturer:   Pergamon

Book Description:

Techniques of solid state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy are constantly being extended to a more diverse range of materials, pressing into service an ever-expanding range of nuclides including some previously considered too intractable to provide usable results. At the same time, new developments in both hardware and software are being introduced and refined. This book covers the most important of these new developments.

With sections addressed to non-specialist researchers (providing accessible answers to the most common questions about the theory and practice of NMR asked by novices) as well as a more specialised and up-to-date treatment of the most important areas of inorganic materials research to which NMR has application, this book should be useful to NMR users whatever their level of expertise and whatever inorganic materials they wish to study.

Vol. 7  Underneath the Bragg Peaks: Structural Analysis of Complex Materials

by T. Egami and S. J. L. Billinge

Publisher: Pergamon
Number Of Pages: 422
Publication Date: 2003-10-02
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0080426980
ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780080426983
Binding: Hardcover

Book Description:

* Introducing a unique method to study the atomic structure of nano-materials
* Award winning research. Takeshi Egami received the 2003 Eugene Bertram Warren Diffraction Physics Award for the work described in the book.

This book focuses on the structural determination of crystalline solids with extensive disorder. Well-established methods exist for characterizing the structure of fully crystalline solids or fully disordered materials such as liquids and glasses, but there is a dearth of techniques for the cases in-between, crystalline solids with internal atomic and nanometer scale disorder. Egami and Billinge discuss how to fill the gap using modern tools of structural characterization. While this subject might sound rather narrow, the fact is that today this problem is encountered in the structural characterization of a surprisingly wide range of complex materials of interest to modern technology and is becoming increasingly important.

Vol. 8  Thermally Activated Mechanisms in Crystal Plasticity

by D. Caillard and J. L. Martin

Publisher:   Elsevier Science
Number Of Pages:   452
Publication Date:   2003-09-08
ISBN-10 / ASIN:   0080427030
ISBN-13 / EAN:   9780080427034
Binding:   Hardcover

Book  Description:

Thermally Activated Mechanisms in Crystal Plasticity is a unified, quantitative and fundamental resource for material scientists investigating the strength of metallic materials of various structures at extreme temperatures. Crystal plasticity is usually controlled by a limited number of elementary dislocation mechanisms, even in complex structures. Those which determine dislocation mobility and how it changes under the influence of stress and temperature are of key importance for understanding and predicting the strength of materials. The authors describe in a consistent way a variety of thermally activated microscopic mechanisms of dislocation mobility in a range of crystals. The principles of the mechanisms and equations of dislocation motion are revisited and new ones are proposed. These describe mostly friction forces on dislocations such as the lattice resistance to glide or those due to sessile cores, as well as dislocation cross-slip and climb. They are critically assessed by comparison with the best available experimental results of microstructural characterization, in situ straining experiments under an electron or a synchrotron beam, as well as accurate transient mechanical tests such as stress relaxation experiments. Some recent attempts at atomistic modeling of dislocation cores under stress and temperature are also considered since they offer a complementary description of core transformations and associated energy barriers.

In addition to offering guidance and assistance for further experimentation, the book indicates new ways to extend the body of data in particular areas such as lattice resistance to glide.

Vol. 9  The Local Chemical Analysis of Materials

by J. W. Martin

Publisher:   Elsevier Science
Number Of Pages:   234
Publication Date:   2003-10-31
ISBN-10 / ASIN:   0080439365
ISBN-13 / EAN:   9780080439365
Binding:   Hardcover

Book Description:

* Expert, up-to-date guidance on the appropriate techniques of local chemical analysis

* Comprehensive. This volume is an ideal starting point for material research and development, bringing together a number of techniques usually only found in isolation

* Recent examples of the applications of techniques are provided in all cases

Helping to solve the problems of materials scientists in academia and industry, this book offers guidance on appropriate techniques of chemical analysis of materials at the local level, down to the atomic scale. Comparisons are made between various techniques in terms of the nature of the probe employed. The detection limit and the optimum spatial resolution is also considered, as well as the range of atomic number that may be identified and the precision and methods of calibration, where appropriate.

The Local Chemical Analysis of Materials is amply illustrated allowing the reader to easily see typical results. It includes a comparative table of techniques to aid selection for analysis and a table of acronyms, particularly valuable in this jargon-riddled area.

Vol. 10  Metastable Solids from Undercooled Melts

by D. M. Herlach, P. Galenko and D. Holland-Moritz

Publisher: Pergamon
Number Of Pages: 448
Publication Date: 2007-04-11
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0080436382
ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780080436388
Binding: Hardcover

Book Description:

This book presents the physical concepts and tools to characterize and describe the formation of metastable solids from undercooled melts. Its aim is to facilitate understanding of the development of the science and technology of solidification of melts and to introduce new concepts within this exciting research field in order to fulfil the challenges of the future in the field of undercooled melts.

A comprehensive description of the science and applications of the undercooling phenomenon is given. It is composed of several main parts: experimental techniques for undercooling; characterization of the undercooled melt as the first step in rapid solidification; introducing the concepts of modern theories of rapid dendrite and eutectic growth and their comparison with experimental results, and a survey of metastable materials formed from the non-equilibrium state of an undercooled melt.

* Showing clear links to possible application of results obtained from basic research
* The subject matter is multidisciplinary and will be of interest to material scientists, physicists, physical chemists, mechanical and electrical engineers

谢谢 “长三角野败”,卷10的中文翻译我在我的三个帖子中都已经改了。

仅据:

“A metastable phase is not the most thermodynamically stable phase, but rather a temporary stable phase which can exist under certain conditions.”

VOl.10的密码在最后呢.
另外建议楼主把Vol. 10  Metastable Solids from Undercooled Melts 翻译成"来自过冷熔体的亚稳态固体"
