The student will be expected to conduct research in the areas of materials for electrochemical energy storage & conversion applications and related thermal management. The Reno-Lake Tahoe area has a population of 425,000, a full array of retail and service outlets, and an international airport. The area is famous for its variety of recreational activities, including skiing, hiking, sailing, camping, fishing, and sightseeing. The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is ranked as national Tier 1 University. It has been experiencing fast growth during recent years and has more than 60 research centers, and many state-of-the-art laboratories. Tesla's $5 billion Gigafactory is located in the Reno-Sparks area. By 2020, the Gigafactory will reach full capacity and produce more lithium ion batteries/supercapacitors annually than were produced worldwide in 2013. In addition, companies such as Apple and Amazon have launched facilities in Reno. |
