In the process of high-temperature melting reducing, the various oxides in the CRT glass are involved in chemical reaction. All the oxides could be reduced, but they can be reduced in different degree. It is easy to be reduced for PbO, while SiO2, CaO, Al2O3, MgO are produced slag. Because affinity between lead and oxygen is very lower than the latter, it is easy to create a condition that lead was reduced, while SiO2 and CaO are not reduced. The metal activity of Na, K, and Ca is stronger than the carbon, and cannot be reduced.

In the process of high-temperature melting reduction, various oxides in the CRT glass are involved in reactions. All oxides could be reduced, but to different degrees, among which PbO is the easiest, while SiO2, CaO, Al2O3, MgO are reduced sluggishly. Because the affinity between lead and oxygen is much lower than the rest, it is easy to create a condition under which lead is reduced, while SiO2 and CaO are not. Since the reactivities of Na, K, and Ca metals are stronger than carbon,  these cannot be reduced.
