METHODOLOGY The report ¡®End Use of Molybdenum¡¯ has two sections with the following scopes: Section 1: Mo market information about first and end use in 2016 (including forecasts to 2026) Section 2: Market information about the 10 major end use segments The Mo input of metallurgical products is based on melting production of Mo containing steels/materials in: - Constructional Engineering Steel (¡®Alloy Steel¡¯) - Stainless Steel - Tool and High Speed Steel (aggregated in one group as ¡®Alloy Tool Steel¡¯) - Nickel Alloys (including so-called vacuum melted ¡®Superalloys¡¯) - Castings (unwrought alloyed steel products shown as ¡®Foundries¡¯ including also stainless steel and nickel alloy castings) - Mo Metals (with more than 99% Mo) The real end use numbers are referring to finished products. In this report a theoretical end use based on melt weights is shown. An end use based on finished products would amount to 70-75% of the volumes presented in this report. In some exceptional cases, such as the aircraft/aerospace industry, only 10% of melted weight can end in a finished product (known in the industry as ¡®buy to fly¡¯ ratio), due to the significant material loss in the production and fabrication process. The reported volumes refer to the (theoretical) tonnage needed in melting production. The calculation of Mo units is based on typical Mo contents in production. Total Mo Input vs. Primary Input: All Mo input data shown in this report usually include Mo units in scrap except when otherwise mentioned as ¡®primary Mo input¡¯. This means that the results from IMOA¡¯s quarterly data review are not directly comparable to the data in this report (as the quarterly data usually show primary Mo use excluding Mo in scrap). The quarterly report only present Mo use at mills, while this report shows Mo use at fabricators and consumers. Location of melting (first use) and location of finished product use (end use) are not identical. The calculation of Mo in scrap in this report is based ·¢×ÔСľ³æAndroid¿Í»§¶Ë |
