Training Workshop (Supported by NSF): Modulation of Tomato/Blueberry Fruit Size and Flavor by Short Tandem Target Mimic (STTM) and Artificial microRNA (amiRNA)
培训班:通过短串联模靶(STTM)和人造微小RNA(amiRNA)技术调节番茄/蓝莓果实大小和风味

We use tomato as well as blueberry fruit as a model to modulate the expression of miR396 and so change their fruit sizes. You will learn tomato or blueberry genetic transformation as well as STTM and amiRNA technologies. This training workshop will invite 5 experts and recruit 10 students to be trained for 10 days. We will cover the travel and lodging cost for the students and invited speakers. Registration fee ($1000) is required and will be donated to the Michigan Tech Blueberry Research Station to be established in 2019. For registration, please send email to gtang1@mtu.edu:. The training workshop will be started from November 1, 2017 and will last to Thanksgiving holiday day, depending on the students or speakers available time.

During this training workshop, the students will learn how to sterile tomato seeds or subculture blueberry plantlets, fast propagation, Agrobacetrium-mediated genetic transformation, analyze the transgenic plant fruit size and flavor. The students will learn also gene construction for STTM and amiRNA for future independent research after the training.
在本次培训讲习班期间,学员将学习番茄种子灭菌或蓝莓无菌苗的继代、快速繁殖、农杆菌介导的遗传转化、分析转基因植物果实的大小和风味。 学员还将学习STTM和amiRNA的基因构建,以便在培训后进行自主研究。
