Relaxation (equilibration) stage: use the NPT ensemble (if you want to optimized the box size) or the NVT ensemble (if you have a good initial box size). Straining (production) stage: use the NPT ensemble for the transverse directions (if you want to control the stress in those directions) or the NVT ensemble (if you don't care about the stress in such directions) or the NVE ensemble (if you also don't care about the temperature change of the whole system). There is no simple suggestion. Choosing which depends on your purposes. |
