PhD – scholarship in Electric Vehicles in Electric Power Systems with Wind Power - Architecture Design and Analysis
A 3-year PhD-scholarship is available at Centre for Electric Technology (CET) at the Department of Electrical Engineering for appointment as soon as possible.

CET offers outstanding career opportunities, has very strong relations to the industry and focus on transforming the electric power system into an intelligent infrastructure based on renewable energy. This PhD scholarship focus on system-level modeling and simulation related to different architecture designs for electric vehicles. Power system integration and interaction between electric vehicles and wind power will be of major interest.

The PhD-scholarship is part of a recently established research programme, Edison, carried out in collaboration between CET and other major industrial players in the field, including Siemens, IBM, DONG Energy, Danish Energy Association and Risø DTU. The Edison programme is so far the world’s largest research program focusing on integrating electric vehicle into power systems. The objective of the program is to develop and demonstrate optimal system solutions for system integration of electric vehicles, including transmission and distribution network issues, market solutions, and optimal interaction with different energy technologies especially wind power. The PhD-scholarship is an integral part of the Edison programme and involves close collaboration with the rest of the Edison team. The candidate should have a strong background in electric power systems and/or markets, and is expected to work on electric vehicle system architecture design and system-level modeling and simulation. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in implementing complex algorithms and models for power system simulations using DIgSILENT Power Factory and other tools, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Candidates should have (or soon obtain) a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering.

The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. Information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies is included in the general rules of DTU, which may be obtained by application to the PhD programme office at tel: +45 45 25 11 76 or +45 45 25 11 77.

The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students.

The application should include 1) curriculum vitae, 2) documentation of examination certificate for bachelor and master degrees, 3) calculation of Danish weighted average of bachelor and master in the Danish grading system using the form: www.dtu.dk/upload/administration ... i/phd/grades_uk.xls (for non-Danish educations, 4) two references, and 5) a cover letter outlining the motivation for the PhD study and for this particular project.
