The statistical-epidemiological protocol is to remove a univariate analysis when a multivariate analysis is provided. The univariate detracts from the real results as multivariate provides a more in situ experiment in the patients as it controls for the effect of all other variables included. And more importantly most of your readers will not realise that the effects provided by univariate analysis are not controlled for the effect of the other variables and may even think that a significant result is more important than the results of a controlled model. Please provide the variables entered but removed in the model as a foot note (or in the Methods under Statistics), please labell in Table 4 that these results are the final model and give the second last step in the backward regression model.
