纽约州立大学奥尔巴尼分校招收Ph.D.

Applications are invited for two funded Ph.D. positions in data mining and machine learning at the department of Computer Science, the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY Albany), USA. The positions will start at 2017 Fall or 2018 Spring. The successful applicants will work in a funded research project aiming to develop novel statistical and computational methods (e.g, non-convex optimization and deep learning based) for modeling of uncertainty information and discovery of emerging events and other relevant patterns on large attributed complex networks. The candidates will work closely with Dr. Feng Chen (https://www.cs.albany.edu/~fchen/). Students from Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or other related disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply. Background about the university: SUNY Albany with its over 17,000 students is an innovative and interdisciplinary working university that provides a broad variety of research projects and disciplines for students across the United States and 73 countries. It is located in the capital city of the New York state, around 2.5 hours away from New York city, Boston, and Montreal. The department of Computer Science had a Turing Award winner Richard E. Stearns on computational complexity of algorithms, and currently has 20 faculty members working across a 12 different research areas, such as artificial intelligence, forensics, graphics, algorithms, logic and optimization, among others. |
