PhD Position at University of Tuebingen & Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Biological Cybernetics, Germany A PhD position is opening now for students with master degree in Biology and Bio-engineering. The primary task is to setup an awake rodent functional MRI imaging platform under the high field MRI scanner (14T). This platform will be combined with the multi-modal brain function imaging system including optogenetics, calcium recording, electrophysiology. Different animal disease models will be investigated under this platform. Requirements for the potential candidates (preferred, but not necessary required): Preliminary knowledge and experience in brain functional imaging. Experience with animal surgeries, viral transfection, or in vivo. / in vitro. electrophysiology in animal models is highly desirable. Also, familiarity with fMRI analysis software packages (e.g., AFNI), and Linux OS, strong computer programming skills (e.g., in C/C++ & especially MATLAB) and prior fMRI & image processing experience are desired too. Key features of the students whom we are looking for: High curiosity to science. Good communication skill. Determination and Persistence. The successful candidate will be involved in a collaborative BRAIN INITIATIVE project to image transgenic mice (awake and anesthetized) for mechanistic studies of neurovascular coupling with optional additional exposure to calcium (or neuronal signal) imaging, in vivo electrophysiology, and translational technical transfer from rodent to human brains. The Max Plank Institute for Biological Cybernetics located in Tübingen, Germany.
