Opening PhD positions on robotics in Hong Kong PolyU
|
|
The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has a new aggressive initiative to boost basic/applied research in robotics https://www.polyu.edu.hk/web/en/home/index.html We have two fully funded PhD positions in robotics (to begin on September 2017). Research areas include (1) mechanism design, (2) multi-modal perception, and (3) intelligent control The profiles that we are looking for are wide. Prospective students should have a master's degree in mechanical/automation/computer/biomedical/electrical engineering (or related disciplines). We are particularly looking for exceptional candidates with strong analytical background and hands-on experience in experimental robotics. Enquiries about the positions may be sent to Dr. David Navarro-Alarcon at david@cuhk.edu.hk (currently at CUHK, but moving to PolyU on July) Interested candidates should apply online to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Details can be found here: https://www40.polyu.edu.hk/rowas/jsp/home.jsf When completing the application, it is essential for candidates to state "Robotics" as the "Area of Interest" About PolyU is a young research-intensive university with a high international ranking: - 6th in the World 2016/17 (QS Top 50 Under 50) - 27th in World 2016 (Times Higher Education Under 50) The medium of instruction at PolyU is English. Its campus is located in heart of Hong Kong, one of the world's most important financial centres and Asia's World City, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong Dr. David Navarro-Alarcon CUHK T Stone Robotics Institute The Chinese University of Hong Kong www.mae.cuhk.edu.hk/~dnavarro/ |
