Computer science and software engineering PhD positions/scholarships available at UNSW, Australia

UNSW is a world-renowned university (ranked 46th in the world in the 2015-16 prestigious QS World University Rankings
and among the top 10 Science Universities in the World (https://gazettereview.com/2016/0 ... niversities-world/)
and a member of Go8 (Group of Eight)--a coalition of research-intensive Australian universities, well recognised for its engineering program (with its Computer Science ranked 35th in the QS 2016)

The School of Computer Science and Engineering at UNSW University, Australia, has several PhD scholarships for outstanding candidates for 3.5 years. The PhD research positions are funded by a recently awarded Australian Research Council (ARC) project. The idea candidate will be conduct her/his research in one of the following topics:

(1) Program analysis to improve software security and reliability,
(2) Machine-learning based big code analysis,
(3) Big data driven security analysis for mobile malware analysis,
(4) Probabilistic program analysis for bug detection,
(5) Software analysis and testing techniques,

The PhD research student will be supervised under Dr. Yulei Sui (https://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~ysui/). The stipend of the scholarship is $26,682 per annum (tax exempt) for 3.5 years, plus travel funds for attending conferences. The qualified candidate will also receive a tuition-fee waiver.

We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who meets the following requirements:
•       has an Honours bachelor's or master's degree in the area of Computer Science or related discipline with outstanding grades.
•       shows evidence of research ability - e.g. an honours thesis, a minor thesis, publication(s), and a well-developed preliminary research proposal, developed under the guidance of the supervisor;
•       has strong programming skills in one of C/C++, Java and Python.
•       has solid background in software engineering and programming skills

To apply for the scholarships, you must complete an application consisting of:
•       A brief (2-4 pages) research proposal outlining your interest and suitability for the project;
•       A detailed curriculum vitae with publications (if applicable);
•       Undergraduate and honours/master transcripts;
•       All applicants, domestic and international, must meet the English Language entry requirements (https://www.unsw.edu.au/english-requirements-policy) to be considered for unconditional admission and the scholarship.
•       Recommendation letters from at least one referee.
