A 3-year PhD scholarship is available at Professor Maria Forsyth’s group at Deakin University (Burwood Campus, Melbourne). http://www.deakin.edu.au/about-deakin/people/maria-forsyth Professor Maria forsyth is an Australian Laureate Fellow, Australian Academy of Science Fellow and Alfred Deakin Professor. She is a world top scientist in the area or electrochemistry. She is also a senior editor of The Journal of Physical Chemistry. Her group work on understanding the phenomenon of charge transport at metal/electrolyte interfaces and within novel electrolyte materials. Such materials have included a range of novel ionic liquids, polymer electrolytes and plastic crystals. This PhD Project involves the development and application of first principle/classic molecular dynamics simulation of electron transfer across electrolyte/electrode interfaces. This work would be under supervision of Professor Maria Forsyth and Dr Fangfang Chen, and will start in 2017 (prefer as soon as possible) Candidates should preferably have a master degree in computational/theoretical physics or chemistry/ material physics/ physics/ chemistry or related discipline, a good knowledge of statistical mechanics and programming skills. There is English language requirement for international student, please make sure you have meet it before you apply.
