Breast-feeding is the most effective and appropriate method to nourish infants, and exclusive breast-feeding is an effective way of minimizing risk for development of allergic manifestation, like atopic disease。 It was reported that 10~20% of infants were allergic to bovine milk protein, especially α-casein and β-lactoglobulin.
Therefore, hydrolysed proteins were gradually applied to infant formulas to reduce infants' suffering from allergic manifestation. Hydrolysed proteins can be classified as moderately hydralysed proteins, completely hydrolysed proteins and amino acids according to the degree of hydrolysis. Generally, some experts would recommend infants to administrate moderately or partially hydrolysed infant formulas instead of ordinary infant formulas, for it could prevent infants from allergic manifestation.
As for completely hydrolysed proteins and amino acids formulas, they are usually recommended to those infants who has suffered from allergic manifestation.
