A Little Help Can Go a Long Way..

When lending a helping hand, expect the same in return. After a hard day of work, my mother arrives home with a car full of groceries. She yells into my house, "Can someone help me bring these bags in?" My older brother acts like he hasn't heard anything and continues to play his video game while my oldest brother rolls over, puts his pillow over his head, and continues to count sheep. There I am, working vigorously on my homework, and yet I instinctively get up and tell her to go inside while I get the groceries for her. That's just my attitude towards all thing. I put others before myself and try to help out at whatever I can, whenever I can. The task can be something I absolutely hate, and yet I will put forth my effort to help make things easier. My brother Jamie went just recently transferred from Penn State Altoona to Penn State Main Campus. He would not even think about lending me a helping hand with anything, yet I agreed to take the extensive eight hour round trip car ride, just to make moving less of a hassle. I could have easily said no and spent my Saturday going out and having fun. Not only do big favors such as that have an impact on people, but the smaller, less significant ones do also. Something as small as making dinner can leave an enormous impact on how a person views you. I believe that helping out with anything makes people respect you for who you really are, and hopefully makes them want to return the favor back to you once you really need it. 滴水之恩永难忘 投之以桃，报之以李 一天辛劳之后，妈妈买了许多东西，满载而归。她到家时朝屋里喊：“ 谁帮我把这些袋子拎到屋里？ ”我二哥假装没听见，继续玩电子游戏，而我大哥翻翻身，用枕头蒙住头继续睡觉。我正做功课，但我本能地站起来，让妈妈进屋歇息，对她说车上的东西由我来拿。这就是我对待所有事情的态度。我总是先替别人着想，只要我能，无论何时何地我都会伸出援手。有些事情可能我也不喜欢做，但我会尽我的绵薄之力使事情变得容易些。 我弟弟杰米刚刚从宾夕法尼亚州立大学奥尔托纳转到宾夕法尼亚州立大学主校区。他从来就没有想过要帮我，但我还是答应往返8小时开车送他，仅仅是为了减少一点旅途的寂寞。我本来可以轻易地回绝他，利用周六好好出去玩玩。不仅大事如此，小事也一样。诸如煮饭之类的小事可以让人对你另眼相看。我认为无论你帮助别人做什么事，都能得到别人的尊敬。一旦你满怀希望得到他人的帮助时，别人也会毫不犹豫的伸出援助之手。 |
