Combining the systems biological investigations and functional“omics” to elucidate the mechanisms of actions of Chinesemedicines/acupuncture will ensure the identification of potentialbiomarkers to be associated with both Western disease conceptsand TCM pattern classifications [17,21,23]. Thus, TCM patterndifferentiation will facilitate the stratification of patient group-ings before clinical trial investigations. All these factors can befurther linked with mathematical and computational approaches(such as chemometrics) [16].
