PhD Student Position in Mechanical Behavior of Structural Materials at the City University of Hong Kong

A PhD student position is available in Fall 2017 in the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong with research direction of Materials Science and/or Biomechanics. The interested student could contact Dr. Niu at xinrui.niu@cityu.edu.hk ASAP for consideration.

Requirements:
• B.S. or M.S. in Materials Science, Engineering Mechanics, Applied Physics, Thermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry and other related engineering and scientific fields.
• An overall GPA not less than 80/100 for the top 985 universities, 82.5/100 for 985 universities, 85/100 for 211 universities. (不包括政治和体育类课程

)
• Fulfill the language requirement: a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based) is required; or an overall band score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or College English Test Band 6 score no less than 490.

Additional information:
• Monthly Stipend: 15900 HKD;
• The candidate is expected to work on research topics such as: biomaterials, biomechanics, bio-mimetic design, 3D-printing of novel structures, nanocomposites, nano-materials and nano-mechanics;
• The City University of Hong Kong is rising rapidly in the recent decade, especially in the engineering regime. We ranked 11th in Best Global Universities for Engineering according to U.S. News and World Report University Rankings 2017
