Helmholtz Centre: DLR German Aerospace Center Lilienthalplatz 7, 38108 Braunschweig, Germany Department/Institute: Software for Space Systems and Interactive Visualization Simulation and Software Technology Supervising scientist: Dr. Andreas M. Gerndt No tuition for this application and research Research Field: Computer Science: Virtual Reality; Augmented Reality; Human Machine Interface; Scientific Visualization; Visual Computing; Big Data ¨C Smart Data Position: Sandwich PhD Student or Postdoc 1£¬ Research Area: Model-based Systems Engineering for Early Spacecraft Development 1£¬ Ñо¿·½Ïò£º »ùÓÚÄ£Ð͵ÄÔçÆÚº½Ìì·ÉÐÐÆ÷Óë·ÉÐÐÈÎÎñϵͳÉè¼Æ We are looking for PhD candidates interested in all topics of spacecraft and mission development from early phases to integration. Typical research studies are related to Concurrent Engineering, Conceptual Data Models, Requirement Engineering and Traceability, Automatic Verification, Model Checking, Modeling of Fault Tolerant Systems, Model-Driven Software Development, etc. In foreground, software approaches have to be investigated to solve space engineering problems. Possible methods could rely on machine learning, petri nets, timed automata, SMT solver, informed search, and much more. We expect that the ideas are implemented as prototypes in software demonstrators. Research results should be published on high-ranked conferences and in journals. Specific Requirements: Requirements depend primarily on the research topic: - Master in Computer Science or Space Engineering with focus on Software Research - Programming Languages: Java, C/C++ - Experiences in Eclipse Rich-Client Plug-In Development - Knowledge about Model-based System Engineering Theory and Application - Skills in Software Engineering Methods and Tools - Teamwork-oriented 2£¬ Research Area: Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in Aerospace Applications 2£¬ Ñо¿·½Ïò£º ÔÚº½ÌìÈÎÎñÖеÄVRÓëAR¼¼ÊõÓ¦Óà We are looking for PhD candidates interested in one or more of the following topics: • Virtual assembly simulation for on-orbit servicing of satellites • Integration of stabile physics models for plausible presentation of multi-body simulations • Model-based evaluation of servicing of virtual space systems • Computer supported assistance of real service mission (Machine Learning) • Integration of Augmented Reality (AR) techniques into mission planning scenarios • Photo-realistic rendering of rover simulations on planet and comet surfaces • Navigation on virtual planets and annotations of findings in geological and atmospheric datasets • Extraction and visualization of topological features by means of direct interaction with unsteady surface and weather datasets The focus is set on software research. We expect that the ideas are implemented as prototypes in software demonstrators. Research results should be published on high-ranked conferences and in journals. - Master in Computer Science or Space Engineering with focus on Software Research - Expertise in object-oriented software development preferably with C++ - Excellent knowledge in programming GPUs (e.g. with OpenGL, Shader Techniques, CUDA). - First experiences in developing methods for human-computer interfaces in immersive environments - Basic knowledge in Augmented Reality (AR) techniques would be helpful - Skills in Software Engineering Methods and Tools - Teamwork-oriented Work Place: Braunschweig, Germany Earliest Start: Applications always accepted Language Requirement: Fluent in spoken and written English, German is an asset Address of the Supervisor for submitting application: Dr. Andreas Gerndt, Lilienthalplatz 7, 38108 Braunschweig, Germany, Andreas.Gerndt@dlr.de ------------------------ |
