The Insitute of Polymer Science and Techonology at Madrid offer the following research topics in which PhD students getting a fellowship from CSC could work: 1. Preparation of oligoesters by means of ring-opening polymerization and subsequent covalent binding to PVC – a new strategy for the preparation of non-migrating plasticized PVC 2. Synthesis of functionalized antimicrobial/antifungi active species, incorporation to polymer surfaces or soluble polymer chains and evaluation of the antimicrobial performance 3. Preparation by supercritical CO2 (SCCO2) fluid of polymeric systems with applications in tissue engineering and in drug delivery. 4. Preparation of vinyl-lactam-based supports for cell manipulation. 5. Preparation of ultraporous polymer networks (PPN) with high free volume fraction and mixed matrix membranes (MMMs, from PPNs and aromatic polyimides) for in gas or vapor phase separations.
