When the incorporated amount was less than 3 mol%, a majority of the aluminium was oxidized into AlO4 tetrahedron and entered into glass structure and functioned as structural elements of the glass. On the other hand, when exceeded 3 mol%, a portion of the aluminium could enter the glass as AlO6 hexahedron structural elements, which reduced the order of internal structure of the glass, at the same time, reduced the environmental symmetry for Eu ions, hence, increased the R value for Eu3+ ions. |
