We wonder if we can incorporate a small amount of nucleation agent to the glass, and an external strong magnetic field will be applied at the secondary heat treatment step during which nanoparticles start to form. The resulting gold and silver nanoparticles might form in ecliptic or rod shape. It is known that gold nanorods can be used to amplify and flexibly adjust the wavelength of SPR, and they possess a unique anisotropic polarization property. Our attempt to control the shape of nanoparticles in glass through external magnetic field may allow us to regulate (or tune) the wavelength of resonance that originated from these metal nanoparticles. |
