Herein, we introduce a simple and scalable top-down
strategy for the phase- and morphology-controlled synthesis
of FePO4·2H2O via the phosphation of β-FeOOH nanorods
(nr), synthesised via hydrothermal hydrolysis of FeCl3
(Fig. 1). Subsequent annealing of the hydrated iron phos?phates leads to different polymorphs of FePO4. An array of
characterisation techniques are employed to unravel the ki?netics and mechanism of the crystallisation of FePO4·2H2O in
different phases.
