In the following review, many of these issues are addressed, starting with a brief (and approximate) history of the develop?ment of organic metals, and followed by a description of the building blocks and electronic structure of small molecule materials. Described then in succession are single component bulk and thin film materials, donor–acceptor charge transfer salts, field effect transistors and photonic devices, phase change and non-linear materials, thin films, functionalized materials, bio-inspired materials and devices, and a concluding section. Since this is an interdisciplinary area, some topics are treated at a very simple level to give the essential back?ground for non-experts. An attempt has been made to discuss examples and present figures that give a broad ‘‘at a glance’’ view of important areas to try to at least touch on some of the most important aspects of this extremely wide interdisciplinary subject. Although single crystalline materials are a focus, polycrystalline, polymer, or amorphous forms of materials in devices are discussed since their examples often provide an essential starting point and background that ultimately lead to single crystal structures and function. 发自小木虫Android客户端 |
