Communication is a key skill for work. Some people just want to control everything and I hate that.

Oh,dear, it shouldn't be your problem. And these just prove that your are a responsible person, a good staff! You are a leader! it's not about salary but the attitude to your work and life.
You are who you are! But, communicate with others also is very important! To be a team player but not a controller.

Correct. All you've done show your attitude towards your work. You are more responsible than others. But be careful here. If you are not superior to your associate, you'd better mind your way and words to communicate with others. Avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.

Easier said than done. Sometimes it's so complicated. And you will realize that it's impossible to communicate with them. This is most painful for me.
