Postdoctoral Fellow Positions in SickKids Research Institute, Toronto, Canada

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available to work on a collaborative project in the laboratories of Dr. Michael Taylor (http://www.sickkids.ca/AboutSick ... hael-D-Taylor.html) and Dr. Xi Huang (http://lab.research.sickkids.ca/huang/) in the Developmental & Stem Cell Biology Program at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. SickKids is the largest child health research institute in Canada. SickKids is affiliated with the University of Toronto. The Taylor (Northcott et al. Nature Genetics 2009. Northcott et al. Journal of Clinical Oncology 2011, Wu et al. Nature 2012, Mack et al., Nature 2014, Morrissy and Garzia et al. Nature 2016), and Huang (Huang et al. Genes & Development, 2012, Huang et al. Nature Neuroscience 2015) labs investigate mechanisms of brain tumor initiation, progression, metastasis and recurrence. We recently developed a number of Drosophila and mouse brain tumor models for the successful candidate to define the tumorigenic capacity of novel mutations detected in human patients, identify novel therapeutic targets, and investigate mechanisms of therapy resistance. This position offers excellent opportunity for the individual to develop unique, multi-disciplinary skillset that bridge human genomics to model organism studies to answer important questions in the brain tumor research field. The successful applicant should have recently obtained their PhD in biological science with excellent track record, and strong background in Drosophila genetics and a broad working knowledge of genomics, molecular and cellular biology. Prior experience in stem cell and cancer is a plus.
