It is a policy at Experiments in Fluids to examine all incoming manuscripts to determine whether they fit with the theme of Experiments in Fluids and that they will have a fair chance of eventual acceptance after review. We do this to reduce the amount of time spent by our authors, associate editors and reviewers. In essence, our journal publishes two types of contributions. The first focuses on novel experimental techniques, typically involving assessment of variations of quantitative parameters within the flow volume. The second type of contribution uses existing experimental techniques to provide in-depth insight into the flow, thereby yielding a better understanding of the flow physics. In consultation with one of my fellow Editors-in-Chief, I have examined your manuscript EXIF-D-16-00413 Analysis of Nano Iron Powder Metal Fuel Motor Nozzle Two-Phase ?Flow Characteristics ? in detail and come to the following viewpoint. Your manuscript describes a simulation of flow ejected from a model of a rocket nozzle. ?Some performance parameters from an experimental nozzle test are compared against the simulation results. ?While we do sometimes publish studies that include numerical simulations, the experimental component of the study and any related physical analysis must always be the dominant component of the contribution. ?In your manuscript, we find that the dominant component is really the simulations. Therefore we deem your manuscript to be out of scope of Experiments in Fluids. Based on considerable experience, if your manuscript were to undergo the regular review process, we feel that the referees would come to the same conclusion. Therefore, in order to save you time, I am withdrawing your contribution, which has no negative implications.
