[交流] UTArlington BioE Dr. Tang's lab PhD recruitment

Several PhD student positions with Graduate Research Assistantships are available in the area of biomaterials and tissue engineering under the supervision of Dr. Liping Tang at Department of Bioengineering at the University of Texas, Arlington. Graduates from the joint Biomedical Engineering program with UT Southwestern Medical Center will get a diploma that bears the seals of both universities.  Dr. Tang’s research focuses on stem cell tissue engineering, nanoparticle drug delivery, cancer diagnostics and therapy and in vivo imaging. Specifically, current research emphasis is on (1) Developing innovative biomaterials/scaffolds for protein delivery and stem cell-based therapy; (2) Developing novel “cancer trap” implant systems for treatment of metastatic cancer; (3) Developing new imaging technology platforms to monitor interaction between tissues/cells and implant materials. Applications with a Bachelor degree in life science, (bio) chemistry, material science/engineering or related areas are preferred.  Willingness to work with small animals is required. Experience in small animal study, cell culture and in vitro/vivo assays is a plus.

Dr. Tang is the College of Engineering Board of Advisors Professor and Distinguished University Professor. He has published 132 peer-reviewed journal papers with >6000 citations. His research has been supported by funding from National Institute of Health, Department of Defense, American Heart Association, Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas, and several medical device companies. He was the recipient of the Young Investigator Award from the Society for Biomaterials in 2001, the Established Investigator Award from the National American Heart Association in 2003, and several research awards. He was elected to be a Fellow of the American Heart Association, a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, and a Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering. Dr. Tang has served as Associate Editor and Editors on 6 editorial boards. He also serves as a reviewers on numerous national and international funding agencies.
