We are now inviting applications

for Early Stage Researcher positions, Pharmaceutical Physics Group, Department of Applied Physics, Kuopio Campus

We have open positions for two early stage researchers (PhD students). Position #1 is related to a project where nanostructured silicon is developed as the anode material for Li-ion batteries. Position #2 is related to a project focusing on the development of new nanomaterials for extraction of precious rare earth elements (REEs) from solutions with low metal concentration. In both cases, the research involves the production of nanostructured silicon, its physicochemical modification and performance testing. The positions also include teaching duties, approximately 5% of the working time.

The Pharmaceutical Physics Group (http://www.uef.fi/en/web/pharmaceuticalphysics/) is a multidisciplinary research team that focuses on the development of mesoporous inorganic materials for specified applications. It collaborates with several international institutes, and PhD students typically stay several months aboard during their PhD projects.

We are looking for motivated and research oriented individuals willing to commit to the goals of the projects. The applicants should hold a Master’s degree in physics, chemistry, materials science or a comparable field. Good command of the English language as well as experience in laboratory work is required.
