However, the performance of W-LEDs gradually goes down over time due to several facts, the relatively high temperature on chip causing flourescent powders to deteriorate, at the same time, the heat generated and short wavelength irradiation also cause aging, discoloration and less transparent to sealing resin, which leads to reduced light emitting efficiency, worsened quality of light emitted and shortened lifespan. Therefore research on the next generation of heat stable, light-emitting materials that do not readily decay over time is important and in timely need. |
