| In one way, this widens the distance between Er3+ ions, which weakens the cross relaxation effect among Er3+ ions, and decreases the ratio of red and green light intensities for the upper conversion emmision; on the other hand, the relatively large distance between rare earth ions also avoids the possible flourescence quenching, thus maximizes the light intensity for the upper conversion emmision. In contrast, the doped glass prepared using mono alkali tends to have a greater ratio of red and green light intensities, and less light intensity for the upper conversion emmision. |
