可以用作聚合物聚合时的抑制剂和减速剂。Inhibiting and retarding the premature polymn. and the polymer growth of vinyl arom. monomers comprises adding to the monomers an effective amt. of an inhibitor and retarder blend comprising (A) ≥1 arom. sulfonic acid, (B) ≥1 amine, (C) ≥1 nitrophenol, and (D) ≥1 member of the group of nitroxy radical-contg. compds. and nitrosoanilines. The Continuous Dynamic Reboiler Test of the combination of 4-oxo-TEMPO/dodecylbenzenesulfonic/N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone/2,4-dinitro-6-sec-butylphenol at concns. of 100 ppm/100 ppm/30 ppm/ 250 ppm, resp., resulted in 0.0004% polymer in 5 h steady stage and 0.31% polymer after 2 h feed shut off.
