Position description Position: LabManager for an optical spectroscopy and microscopy lab. Department: Cixi Institute of Biomedical Engineering, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Closing Date: 31 July 2016 Vacancy: 1 Working location: Ningbo - Cixi After 1 or 2 years, the successful candidate will be offer the possibility to go through an internal evaluation for being enrolled as PhD student in a foreign institution for a period of 3 years. Main Duties and Responsibilities Involved in setting up and running new spectroscopy and microscopy systems dedicated to real time analysis of bio-samples. Procure equipment, tooling, materials and consumables. In charge of the routine management work of laboratory. Essential Qualifications Applicants must have a master in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline, Applicants should have minimum 2 years of working experience in spectroscopy and microscopy techniques (alternatively a Master degree on these disciplines), have good computer science skills (LabView is a plus) and should be keen on setting up optical experimental setups. Applicants should have excellent verbal communications skills both in English and Chinese. Brief Introduction The Ningbo Institute of Industrial Technology (CNITECH) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was officially co-founded in 2004 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Zhejiang provincial government and the Ningbo municipal government. As the first state-owned research and development institute in Zhejiang province, CNITECH has dedicated itself to strengthening cooperation with industries and research organizations in new materials, advanced manufacturing and new energy, and to integrating research and technology with high-tech industrialization. The latest built institute within CNITECH is the still under construction Cixi Institute of Biomedical Engineering which will be devoted to the development of material technology and engineering in medical filed. The successful candidate will work in a newly established interdisciplinary group, within the Cixi Institute of Biomedical Engineering, whose main goal is to develop advanced top-down fabricated micro/nano devices for real-time analysis of bio-samples. The group, formed by international staff, has strong experience in different research fields such as material science, theoretical / computational physics, spectroscopy, biology and neuro-science. It is indeed by the synergic combination of the aforementioned topics that the group aims to reach the proposed goal hence to contribute to the international recognition of CNITECH.
