Traditional schooling is book learning
Not all children learn well by reading books
Some kids are articulate (健谈), others are mechanically inclined (手巧) or human calculators (善算)
Everyone knows pictures enhance memory, yet, except tor showing the "Right Hand Rule" in physics, textbooks rarely show pictures
OK if you're that child who couldn't learn from textbooks, but had parents and classmates who could help you graduate from school
But what if grandpa made a living harvesting produce (农产品), and both parents encouraged you to become janitors just like them ?
What if schools were taught in French and until you become fluent in French, being a janitor was the only "easy" way to make a living without breaking the law ?
