The morphology of Tm3+ doped Y2O3 nanotubes was further investigated by transmission electron microscopy and high resolution transmission microscopy. Figure 6(a) shows the low magnification image of Tm3+ doped Y2O3 nanotubes with outer diameter of about 50¨C80 nm. Figure 6(b) shows the single nanotube and figure 6(c) shows that the SAED pattern taken from this nanotube can be indexed as a hexagonal Y2O3 single crystal and confirms the (111), (110), and (125) planes for the cubic Y2O3 structure. The interlayer distance spacing was measured by HRTEM, and the distance was calculated as 0.305 nm, as shown in figure 6(d), which could be indexed tod(222) of cubic Y2O3. The EDS spectra clearly indicates that the rare earth ion doped (Tm3+, Tb+3, and Eu3+) Y2O3 nanotubes are composed of Y, Tb, Eu, Tm, and O elements (figures S5(A)¨C(C) availableat stacks.iop.org/Nano/20/305302). |
