1ÄêÒÔÉ϶¼Òª On the 10th October 2015, the department updated its character policy to remove the Training and Research (Occupational Trainee stream) visa (subclass 402) from the character exemption provisions. Therefore, from this date, all applicants (over the age of 16) that lodge a Training and Research visa application will be required to provide a penal clearance certificate from any country the applicant has resided in for a total of 12 months or more in the past 10 years in the following circumstances: ¡¤ When applicant¡¯s proposed period of stay in Australia, including time already spent in Australia, is a total of 12 months or more. ¡¤ When an applicant¡¯s declared period of stay in Australia is less than 12 months, but the total grant period of the Training and Research visa would be 12 months or more. This includes the grant period preceding the declared travel period and any additional grant period applied due to policy directive. We apologise for the confusion, but the Training and Research visa application form (1402) will be updated to reflect this change at Question 31 of the application form by 31 January 2016. |
