PhD position in Semantic Web and Linked Open Data at Aalborg University A fully funded three-year Ph.D. position is available at the Center for Data-intensive Systems (https://daisy.aau.dk), Department of Computer Science, Aalborg University (AAU), Denmark. The position is available for start over the summer/fall of 2016. Research topic: More and more data is published on the Web as RDF or Linked Open Data. Available datasets are naturally distributed, constantly changing, and have been published at different times, by different communities, in different languages, etc. We are looking for a talented and motivated PhD student whose work will help overcome these challenges and enable efficient query processing over Web data. Requirements: Applicants must have a master's degree in computer science or a closely related field, with very good grades. Good knowledge in relation to the research topic described above and strong implementation skills are required. Good communication skills in English, oral as well as written, are essential. About Ph.D. studies at Aalborg University: Danish universities offer high Ph.D. salaries (and good social benefits) that compare very well with the rest of the world. The monthly pre-tax salary including pension contribution at Aalborg University is approximately DKK 29,000. To broaden their research horizons, Ph.D. candidates at Aalborg University are also given financial support for a one-semester academic visit to an international research institution. About Daisy: The database researchers at Daisy primarily conduct research in spatio-temporal data management, Semantic Web, data warehousing, and business intelligence. International evaluations place Daisy in the global top tier. An independent study of publication performance in the top database outlets in the 10-year period 2001-2010 ranks Daisy second among all research groups in Europe.
