We are committed to rapid and timely publication of the foremost research in nanoscience and nanotechnology, and we are continuously striving to ensure rapid turn around on the very large and growing number of manuscripts that are submitted to us. To make this a reality, we have put in place a rapid pre-screening process. This enables us to assure external reviewers that any manuscript they receive from us for review has already been judged as potentially suitable by one of our Associate Editors. We strive to be both rapid and fair in our prescreen process. Our prescreen is based on the judgment of two Associate Editors, who both must agree that a manuscript is not suitable for Nano Letters. This is a very stringent process. We regret that in this instance, we will not be able to consider your manuscript for further review. Our decision is based upon our judgment that while the manuscript reports solid experimental work, given the current state of the field and the format of the manuscript, the work is better suited for more specialized journals as a full article. In addition to myself, your manuscript was also read carefully by Associate Editor Younan Xia, who has concurred and added that the work might be well suited for a journal on materials science. We have done our best to make this decision fairly and thoughtfully, but also to make the decision quickly, so that you can consider how next to proceed without a significant delay.
