Typical membrane operating conditions used in wastewater treatment are flux of 17–68 L/m2 h (10–40 gfd), recovery of 90–98%, backwash every 15–60 min, and maintenance clean every 1–2 days. Utilizing one Cl2 CEB every two days, no fouling was observed over the 200 h of operation (approximately 9 days). Both the transmembrane pressure and the specific flux remained constant at this condition, demonstrating the improved performance of ceramic membrane when treating secondary wastewater at fluxes typical to commercial polymeric membrane. |
