Prof. Yuan Yao is looking for Ph.D. students with backgrounds in Chemical Engineering or related fields to take a lead role in developing state-of-the-art analysis tools for quantifying environmental impacts of bioenergy and biomaterials, optimizing existing and future industrial systems, and identifying feasible pathways to a more sustainable future. All Master and Ph.D. students in Prof. Yao's group are provided with full scholarship ($50,000/year package). Qualifications: • BS/MS degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering program. • TOEFL>90 Previous experience and/or documented knowledge in one or more of the following areas are highly recommended to apply: • Process optimization and mathematical programming (e.g., Matlab, R, Python, GAMS) • Chemical process modeling and simulation (e.g., AspenPlus or similar software) • Life Cycle Assessment methodologies and ecosystems services assessment Place of Employment and Place of Work: The place of employment is North Carolina State University that ranks as #27 the best Engineering School in the United States by the US.
