Briefly, 5 mL of methanol solution of LnCl3 (1.0 mmol, Ln = Y, Yb, Tm/Er) was magnetically mixed with 6 mL OA and 15 mL ODE in a three-neck round-bottom flask. The resulting mixture was heated at 150 ¡ãC under argon flow for 30 min to form a clear light yellow solution. After cooling down to 50 ¡ãC, 10 mL of methanol solution containing 0.16 g NH4F and 0.10 g NaOH was added with vigorous stirring for 30 min. Then, the slurry was slowly heated and kept at 110 ¡ãC for 30 min to remove methanol and residual water. Next, the reaction mixture was protected with an argon atmosphere, quickly heated to 305 ¡ãC and maintained for 1.5 h. The products were isolated by adding ethanol, and centrifuged without size-selective fractionation. The final NaYF4:Yb/Tm nanocrystals were redispersed in cyclohexane with 5 mg/mL concentration after washing with cyclohexane/ethanol several times. |
