PhD position：Finite element analysis and computational mechanics

There is an immediate opening for a PhD research fellow position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Porto. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a background within computational mechanics, finite element method or metal mechanical characterization etc. Current research focus of our group is on the Multiscale mechanics for composites and multiphase metal materials. The PhD position is awarded for a total of 3 years with a possibility for extending the period for one year. Successful candidate can choose to conduct research one of the following: (1) Develop constitutive model for advanced materials, (2) Multiscale modeling. The candidate must have the following qualifications: • A Master degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or other related fields • Experience in a Finite Element Software • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills • Understanding of inelastic material behavior Desirable: Knowledge of Fortran programming and Python scripting Position is now open until filled.
