He has now received some review and an Associate Editor assessment. Unfortunately, on this basis, Professor Lane concludes that the paper is not acceptable in its present form. However, he would be willing to consider a new paper on the same topic. This will require you to do new work (e.g. some model comparisons) and also to address the use of quotes/phrases from the work of others, which is not correct. He will only be willing to consider the new paper once both of these issues have been addressed.     The resubmitted manuscript will be treated as a new submission and will go through a full review process. Professor Lane reserves the right to allow editors to choose between using one or more of the reviewers of the original manuscript or to use completely new reviewers once he has seen the shape of the new manuscript. It follows that resubmitting your manuscript does not guarantee eventual acceptance. Professor Lane also requires you to provide a detailed account of how your new manuscript differs from the original one, in your covering letter.
