I write you in regards to manuscript *** which you submitted to Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences.
As you will see in the letter below by our Associate Editor, the acceptance of your manuscript is not recommended for publication for the following main reasons:
1. After three revisions, the manuscript is still full of English errors. It is not written clearly using correct grammar and syntax. The Associate Editor did not find a significant improvement in English. You must find a native English-speaking person to help you with the grammar.
2. There are also many technical errors where you have used outdated geological terminology and incorrect geological terms.
3. Changes you have made were inappropriate for the journal.
Accordingly, I deeply regret to let you know that your revised manuscript is way below the standards of Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences. Accordingly, I have no choice but reject the manuscript.
I am so sorry for this decision, but it was inevitable given the regulations and standards of our journal.
Good news is that the Associate Editor, **** is willing to help you to improve the manuscript, so that it can be resubmitted to CJES as a new manuscript. Please send your manuscript as a Word document to Dr. ****(e-mail: ****), so that he can provide you with a few pages of annotated text highlighting the nature of the errors you have made in your revisions.
Following Dr. McFarlane’s help, I will also take a look the manuscript and make suggestions for you.
Best regards,
*****
Associate Editor's Comments to Author:
Despite two attempts and numerous suggestions to have the manuscript copy-edited by a native english-speaking geoscientist, I see no significant improvement in the language and grammar in the manuscript. The document I received with 'track-changes' annotations shows that the authors have missed numerous errors and have made inappropriate corrections that, in many cases, have adversely affected the quality manuscript. There are still numerous instances of misuses of geological terminology or out-dated terminology and fixing these issues is beyond the scope of any additional reviewers or the editorial board. Nor have the tables been revised and reformatted appropriately following CJES style. Hence, I have no choice but to deem the manuscript unacceptable for publication in CJES. I regret having to make this recommendation, but until there is significant improvement in the technical writing and grammar and other formatting I see no way forward. If the authors wish to provide a Word document of the manuscript I can provide a few pages of annotated text highlighting the nature of the errors.
Please note it is the responsibility of the Corresponding Author to communicate the status of the manuscript to all co-authors.
Thank you for considering Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences for the publication of your research. I hope the outcome of this specific submission will not discourage you from the submission of future manuscripts.
