This paper mainly expounds on the preparation of the phenolic resin-based friction materials without metal reinforcement agent and the study on its tribological properties. Based on the performance of the tribological properties of samples of three different components at different temperatures, we can get the conclusion that in the process of the preparation of metal reinforcing agent-free friction materials, different additives dosages will give different effects on friction performance. Specifically, at the time of service at low and moderate temperatures, increasing the amount of calcium sulphate whiskers would make the friction coefficient increases, lower wear rates. But at high temperature, decreasing the dosage of components (e.g. silica, barite, etc) which can increase the stability of system would reduce the friction coefficient of the friction material and increase the wear rate. Conversely, if we increase the dosage of components which can increase the stability and reduce the use of calcium sulphate whiskers, would cause a decrease in the coefficient of friction coefficient. The three sets of samples for wear and friction coefficient in contrast to national standards can pass the national standard.
