Breeding sterile line is the key to development of hybrid rice with wide adaptability, but at present such widely adaptable sterile lines applied in production practice are few. Yun gu3A， a new WA-type CMS line with good grain quality in rice, is developed by crossing Yun feng 66A with wide adaptability to the selected F1 plants from the cross of Yun feng 66B /D62B, followed by successive selection and backcross. The finally obtained CMS Yun gu3A has good plant type and leaf shape, strong tillering trait, excellent flowering habit, stable and complete male sterility with 100% of sterile plants and pollen sterility, strong combining ability, high outcrossing rate, insensitive to light and temperature , strong disease resistance, and has been approved by the Variety Appraisal Committee of Yunnan Province in 2013.Yun gu3A is conducive to developing new hybrid rice combinations with good quality and wide adaptability, and shows a promising prospect of application. |
